In the period February 20 - February 28, 2025, colleagues from Kharkiv National University successfully launched the second stage of the pilot implementation of the professional course "Reading Competence – The Path to Analytical Thinking in the Digital Age" as part of the Erasmus+ project "Developing Reading Skills With and Through Digital Technologies".

The course is aimed at giving theoretical and practical insights into current trends in methodologies for developing reading skills in the context of digital technologies.

The course speakers were Associate Professors of the Department of the Ukrainian Language — Halyna Hubarieva, Yuliia Kalashnyk, and Inna Litvinova. The School of Foreign Languages representatives also joined the course implementation efforts: Svitlana Virotchenko, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Ganna Gusieva, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes.

The course is designed for teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature, world literature, primary school teachers, as well as all those interested in fostering a culture of reading in modern society.

During the course, participants explored tools for developing reading competence and critical thinking, examined the specifics of modern reading practices in the context of international experience, analyzed various types and strategies of reading for effective integration into the educational process, and discovered the potential of modern digital tools for cultivating innovative reading skills.

The project team from Karazin University (within the "Developing Reading Skills With and Through Digital Technologies" / eRead project) expresses sincere gratitude to fellow educators from Kharkiv, Hlukhiv, and Poltava for their interest in our initiatives, for the invaluable exchange of experience, and for the lively discussions on how to engage students with texts, immerse them in poetry, and encourage interest in both contemporary and classical Ukrainian literature!
